Join the Fun; Do the Bellin Run

March 18, 2013

Annual Run/Walk is Saturday, June 8

Bellin Run organizers are passionate about getting people active – off the couch, out of the house and onto the streets. That’s why year after year they enthusiastically encourage people to participate in the annual Bellin Run.

But you can join the 2013 Bellin Run simply because it’s fun.

The 37th annual Bellin Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 8. The 10K (6.2-mile) run/walk winds through the city of Green Bay and the village of Allouez.

“We’re all about getting feet on the street,” said Linda Maxwell, assistant race director for the Bellin Run. “That’s been our mantra for a while now. We’re focused on our community’s overall health, wellness and improved fitness and we’ve worked diligently to incorporate all those potential improvement areas into the Bellin Run through free training programs and support.

“But yes, at a basic level we also want people to join us for the Bellin Run because it’s just a really fun time,” Maxwell said.

The Bellin Run attracts participants of all skill levels – world-class athletes and weekend warriors as well as casual runners, walkers and wheelchair racers. And if it is your first time, don’t worry about it. On average 40 percent of Bellin Run participants are first-timers translating to nearly 7,000 first-timers last year.

“With just under 100 percent of respondents in our annual post-race survey indicating they’d recommend participation in the run/walk to a friend or family member, that’s a lot of people we know for certain, had a good time,” Maxwell said. “We’d like for you as well to experience the fun at the Bellin Run.”

Adult online registration for the 2013 event is $20 through Tuesday, May 1. All registrants receive an official 2013-style Bellin Run T-shirt.
