Why the Bellin is a Great Resolution

December 31, 2014

When the clock strikes midnight, a commitment to greater health is sure to be at the top of your “to do” list for 2015. Don’t drop the ball when the ball drops. Here are a few reasons why you should make the Bellin Run part of your New Year’s resolution.

It’s affordable. In fact, the Bellin Run is the least expensive 10K of its caliber – in the entire nation! At $20, you get to experience the energy of running/walking in the second-largest sporting event in Titletown (Go! Pack! Go!). You might find a less expensive run/walk, but it won’t be a 10K, it won’t be the same caliber as the Bellin, and it won’t deliver the same race-day experience. Plus, you get a free shirt.

You can beat your friends to the “resolution” punch. Starting today, you can purchase registrations for family and friends. The gift giver pays for the registration and the recipient is then prompted to complete the participant information online. Before someone says, “Let’s go jump in Lake Michigan in the morning,” you can say, “I’ve paid for us to run the Bellin this year.”

It’s do-able. This isn’t your crazy, 1 a.m. declaration of a goal that will never make it past January. It’s not a marathon distance of 26.2 miles. It’s also not a 5K that could be completed the first time you lace up your running shoes all year. At 10 kilometers, or 6.2 miles, it requires training to prepare. We recommend 12 weeks of training. That commitment to prepare is a commitment to your personal health, making the Bellin Run a great fitness goal for 2015.

You’ll have support. Let’s face it – it’s tough to get fit. It’s even tougher on your own. More than 18,000 people registered for the Bellin Run last year. Dozens of schools and hundreds of companies participate in our training programs. We have training plans and resources online to assist you. In addition, Bellin Run organizers host free weekly training walks and runs. You won’t have to go it alone. 18,000 other people have the same goal as you.

Register today for the 39th Annual Bellin Run on June 13, 2015.
