Bellin Health Expo to Open an Hour Early This Year
March 9, 2010
The Friday night Health Expo, registration and packet pickup will open at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 11 in Astor Park. The 34th annual Bellin Run will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12.
Traditionally, the expo and its related activities have started at 4 p.m. the day before race day. But given the increasing size of the event, organizers decided to open the event an hour earlier to accommodate the growth.
Organizers say they hope the change will spread the Friday night crowd over a wider window of time, effectively reducing congestion near Bellin Hospital.
The Bellin Run is one of the largest mass participatory events in Northeast Wisconsin with about 93 percent of its participants coming from the area, race organizers say. The 10K (6.2-mile) run/walk winds through the streets of Green Bay and through parts of the village of Allouez.
Last year’s Bellin Run drew 16,746 registrants – the fifth consecutive year the run experienced record growth. Organizers have said they are prepared for similar growth this year.
