Bellin Run Kickoff Events Slated for March 8
February 22, 2017
Corporate Challenge, Kids for Running programs about ‘getting feet on the street’
The Bellin Run will hold kickoff events for its two largest programs Wednesday, March 8, ushering in a season of fun and preparation ahead of this year’s 10K run/walk event. The 41st annual Bellin Run will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 10.
Bellin Run experts will address audiences during the Bellin Run Corporate Challenge Kickoff Breakfast and Bellin Run Kids for Running Kickoff Dinner at the Green Bay Distillery, 835 Mike McCarthy Way. Both events are free and open to anyone interested in being a Corporate Challenge captain or Kids for Running coach, respectively.
“The Bellin Run is all about getting feet on the street, and these two programs help us do that in a big way,” said executive race director Randy Van Straten. “Thanks to our amazing Corporate Challenge captains and Kids for Running coaches, we’re able to encourage even more community members to develop lasting healthy habits while enjoying the incredible camaraderie of our event. These kickoffs are an acknowledgment of their efforts and a great way to get excited about the 2017 Bellin Run.”
The kickoff events will offer information specifically tailored to make the program a success. Bellin’s running experts — running coach Nate Vandervest, physical therapist Lisa Reinke and performance nutrition specialist Lee Hyrkas — will offer expertise while allowing attendees to share their own ideas and discuss what has worked well in the past. Attendees will receive program materials, a free gift and door prize entries.
The Bellin Run Corporate Challenge is a program that challenges local companies in a fun and friendly participation- and timing-based competition. Program captains organize the Corporate Challenge at their respective locations, serving as the main point of contact and coordinating program details, training information and motivational messages. In 2016, the Corporate Challenge had teams from 268 area companies with nearly 7,100 total participants.
Registration and breakfast for the Corporate Challenge kickoff event begin at 7 a.m. March 8, with the program and material pick-up running from 7:45-9:15. Registration is required by Feb. 27 at surveymonkey.com/r/CorporateKickoff. The Bellin Run Kids for Running program provides school-based training for area youth to prepare for and ultimately complete the 6.2 mile Bellin Run. Kids for Running coaches hold training sessions two to three times weekly, providing the structure and motivation necessary for their young athletes to go the distance on race day. Last year, the Kids for Running program drew more than 1,900 students, staff and family members from 64 area elementary schools.
Registration and dinner for the Kids for Running kickoff event begin at 5:30 p.m. March 8, with the program beginning at 6. Registration is required by Feb. 27 at surveymonkey.com/r/2017K4R. For more information about the Kids for Running program, click here or email [email protected].
