Bellin Run partners with MYNEW32 and NBC-26 for event broadcast

Even those who can’t make it to the starting line can still be a part of the Bellin Run. For the first time in its history, the Bellin Run will be broadcast live on television.

The live coverage is the result of a new partnership between the popular 10K run/walk and sister stations MYNEW32 and NBC-26.

“The Bellin Run is an outstanding event that has a profound impact on the health of this community,” said Joe Poss, general manager. “We’re investing in equipment to increase our coverage of local sporting events and the Bellin Run is a great fit. We’re proud to be able to feature this community treasure and give it additional exposure.”

MYNEW32 will begin live coverage of the 36th annual Bellin Run on June 9 at 7 a.m. and will continue until 9 a.m.

The starting gun for the race is scheduled to sound at 8 a.m. The course starts and finishes in front of Bellin Hospital on Webster Avenue, winding through the streets of Green Bay and Allouez. More than 18,000 registrants registered up for the event last year.

Race organizers are excited by this first in Bellin Run history.

“This is an opportunity to showcase the Bellin Run, but also to showcase our community, all while encouraging health and fitness,” said Randy Van Straten, executive race director. “Our goal is to get people active by creating energy around health and fitness. This partnership is helping to spread that message, getting more people off the couch and putting feet on the street.”

In addition to the live coverage, the program will be re-broadcast twice on MYNEW32 during prime time. Those times will be announced closer to the event.

The Bellin Run will also be featured on NBC-26 leading up to the event. Local newscast and the station’s “Today” morning show will feature regular segments on feature stories, event information, training tips and weather updates.
