Great Grub: Bellin Run Improves Post-Race Food
March 10, 2016
The Bellin Run is upping its food game for 2016, providing an improved selection of eats while reducing waste with the goal of creating a better post-race experience.
In the past, participants received a one-size-fits-all bag of prepackaged post-race food — they got one of everything, whether they wanted it or not. This led to an unfortunate amount of discarded goodies – too many of these items went directly from participants’ hands into the trash.
For 2016, we’ve got a better way. Runners and walkers will still get a bag, but each participant will choose what goes into it. Not a fan of pretzels? No need to take them. You’ll get exactly what you want and nothing you don’t. Our top-notch team of finish-area volunteers will keep the line moving, preventing bottlenecks and allowing participants to quickly and efficiently continue their post-race celebration.
So what will you get? We’re keeping some favorites, ditching less-popular items and adding a couple new things we think you’re going to love. We’ll have water, of course, and you’ll still be able to take pretzels and bananas if that’s what you’d like. Participants also will be able to enjoy Live Real Farms Energy Drink, a delicious recovery beverage, and — our personal favorite — two fresh-made and scrumptious mini chocolate chip cookies from race sponsor Festival Foods. Select only the items you’d like and drop them in your bag (or eat them immediately).
Look for the food area after you receive your finisher medal and pose for your post-race photos (which, thanks to our continued partnership with Gameface Media, will once again be free!).
This year’s race is June 11 – sign up today at www.bellinrun.com to join in the fun. We’ll see you at the finish line — chocolate chip cookies in hand.
