You can help through The One Fund Boston

May 17, 2013

April 15, 2013 was Patriots Day in Massachusetts. The Red Sox played an early game at Fenway Park before the attention shifted to the world’s best known running event – the Boston Marathon. Several hours into the run, the world was shocked when two bombs went off near the finish line. The tragic events left three dead, hundreds injured and millions offering support to the Boston community.

There are still many – including members of the tight-knit running community – looking for ways to help those affected by the shocking events of April 15. One way to help is to make a donation to The One Fund Boston, established at the request of the governor of Massachusetts and the mayor of Boston to be the single fundraiser to help those most affected by this tragedy.

The Bellin Run encourages you to consider a donation to The One Fund Boston. We have added The One Fund Boston as one of the Bellin Run’s charity partners.

Our connections to the Boston Marathon go back many years. Boston champions like Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit-Samuelson and Uta Pippig have become regular participants and strong supporters of the Bellin Run.

The organizers of the Boston Marathon are also part of the Bellin family. Since 2008, Boston Marathon race director Dave McGillivray has also served as the race director of the Bellin Run. His organization, DMSE, has played a key role in the planning and operational success of the Bellin Run, helping to spur the event’s growth and further our goal of spreading a message of health and fitness in this region.

The bomb blasts that shook the Boston Marathon affected many people and left many of them with ongoing physical and medical issues. We encourage you to take a look at our charity partners’ page and consider a donation to The One Fund Boston.
